Welcome

Our vision is a world where investment drives the development of sustainable industry and our mission is to educate investors about environmentally friendly companies listed on the ASX. We aim to provide free information regarding clean technology businesses, with a view to identifying companies that have clear prospects for growth in a carbon constrained economy.

In 2012 we live in a world already struggling with environmental problems. Increasingly, people from all walks of life are becoming aware of the need to reduce pollution. At the same time, fossil fuels are becoming increasingly scarce, and therefore more expensive. Younger investors do not serve their own best interests when they allow their superannuation to be invested entirely in these mature industries.

In contrast, Bloomberg reports that “Global investment in clean energy reached a new record of $260bn in 2011, up 5% on 2010 and almost five times the total of $53.6bn in 2004.” We believe that by investing part of your portfolio in clean technology, you can hedge against the “risk” – so to speak – that government and business will, in fact, continue to attempt to mitigate environmental harm.

At any rate, clean technology minimizes environmental harm, reduces carbon emissions and increases energy efficiency. As clean technologies improve, they have the potential to change our energy systems. Visit our Index of ASX Listed Green Equities to find out about clean technology companies we cover.

Fledgling clean technology companies inevitably have volatile share prices so Green Equities advocates long term, diversified, investment philosophy. However, actively monitoring your investments can minimize losses and maximize profits. I hope you’ll enjoy my updates.

GreenEquities is not a stock tipping website. We provide information not advice. If you’re looking for investment advice in the small cap sector, we recommend this excellent new publication, or I personally recommend that you look into this organisation.

If you’d like to receive updates, and very occasional, but exclusive, commentary on ethical and environmentally friendly stocks – then sign up on the right side menu.
